So far removed from the present day science of asthma therapy, these alternative therapies can be classified as far-out fringe folkloric.
Fresh Dog's Blood
In some regions of the country where the animal is still a side-dish accompaniment of alcoholic indulgments, the fresh blood is collected and drank immediately after slaughter.
 
Butiki
These ubiquitous nocturnal house lizards are considered medicinal for asthma; eaten after they are fried to a crisp.  

 

Ipis
The chemicals from the tincture derived from the lowly and despicable cockroach, Blatta orientalis, through its effects on the vagus nerve and parasympathetic innervation of the respiratory system, is believed to provide remedy for bronchial asthma and bronchitis.
Other Folkloric Treatments
Talampunay - Smoke two leaves every six hours.
Kalatsutsi - Same as talampunay
Sampalok - Boil pieces of the tree bark; drink a cup before meals and a cup at bedtime.
Kulitis - Boil a young twig; drink a cup 4 times daily.
Red Onions - Dice 3 Pulang sibuyas bumbay, add 5 tbsp sugar in 2 glasses of water, chill overnight, drink three times daily after meals.
Lagundi - decoction of leaves.
